“It doesn’t matter if you want to be a teacher, an astronaut, or a reggaeton singer, you need to study.”

SAM Project

Throughout high school I worked closely with Joshua’s Heart Foundation, a youth-run organization dedicated to ending world hunger, to target food insecurity in my community and nationwide. Through food drives, “HOPE Box” distributions, and pantry restocks, we provide nutritious, sustainable food to local families struggling with food insecurity. In my junior and senior years, I became the Lead Secretary and Social Media Chair, organizing the website, Instagram, keeping minutes, and updating volunteers. Recently, I have planned a food drive to take place in January and reach over 500 families.

Best Cushman Memory

My favorite Cushman Memory was going to the Dude Ranch and being able to spend four days with my classmates. Doing team building exercises, rock climbing, canoeing, and just spending time together with my friends and teachers was an experience I will cherish forever.

“When I see Monica, I have the illusion that the future belongs to young people like her. She is determined, strong and brilliant. She’s moving towards the life she dreams about. I am certain that she will make strides in the successes and experiences of the world to the summit, where she deserves to be.”
